Ruth received her early artistic training at the prestigious Fine Arts Department at Fu Hsing Vocational School in Taipei, Taiwan, where she studied commercial and graphic art. Upon graduation, she was admitted to the Chinese Culture University, where she studied classical Chinese painting under modern masters Ou Hau-nian, Liu Liang-you, and Wu Hsueh-jang.
Since receiving her degree in studio art in 1981, Ruth has developed a unique expression employing traditional Chinese brushes and inks as well as watercolor and goauche in a readily recognizable style all her own. When most young Chinese artists are abandoning their traditional materials and aesthetic, Ruth Lee has built upon her classical training and introduced western images and sensibilities into her work.
You are most cordially invited to explore Ruth's galleries, entered from the index on the left.
